How to install Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich on HTC Desire HD?

XDA’s renowned developer torxx has released the first Sense 4.1 based ROM for the Desire HD. It is now clear that the OEMs don’t always know about what they’re talking when it comes to the ability of their devices. The Desire HD is running on full Sense 4.1 over Android 4.0.4 and contains a numerous other features.

Though it is stable enough for daily uses, a few users have reported some small issues. It seems like some HTC widgets are not working and the tweak package leading to some forced closes and a few other miscellaneous issues.

Pre-requisites to follow before flashing ROM:

• These steps just for HTC Desire HD. However it may work with other Android devices as well.
• Before you apply this update, it is strongly recommended to unlock bootloader and install custom recovery on your phone.
• You are obliged to follow all the instructions carefully to avoid bricked/dead devices.
• Make backup all your user data, contacts, SMS, network settings and other applications which you may require.
• Uninstall Samsung Kies from your PC and disable all security apps like antivirus or spywares etc. Some of these are known to interrupt the flashing procedure.
• Enable USB Debugging on your phone. To do so Go To Settings >> Applications >> Development and check whether USB Debugging is checked or not.
• Install all the required device drivers on your PC so as to get no errors during flashing.
• Last but most importantly FULLY CHARGE YOUR DEVICE (Or make sure it’s at least 70%). Battery failure in middle of the flashing process mostly results in bricked devices.

How to install Sense 4.1 ROM for HTC Desire HD?

• Download the ROM from the link given above.
• Copy the ROM to your phone’s SD card.
• Boot the phone into recovery mode. To do so, turn off your phone. Now hold Volume Down and Power button together to boot into recovery mode. You can also enter into recovery mode by download the ROM manager app from the Google PLAY Store.
• Once your device HTC Desire HD enters recovery mode, select the option of “wipe data/factory reset” so that data is wiped. Next, select the option of “install zip from SD Card” followed by “choose zip from SD Card” and select the ROM which you had placed in your device and the ROM would be flashed.
• Your device is ready to use after a reboot.
• Congrats! You’ve successfully flashed this ROM. This is how you can install Sense 4.1 ROM for HTC Desire HD.
